On this episode we invited the Young Gaffers podcast to join us to talk about their new hometown club, Cavalry FC. We went over the announcement itself, along with breaking down the choice in name, colours and crest.

After that conversation, we go a little deeper in analyzing the branding and how it compares to the other recently announced club, York 9.

And of course, we sprinkle in a few CPL rumours for good measure.

You can find the Young Gaffers podcast here.

May 15, 2018

This weeks podcast focuses on York 9 FC and their formal announcement. We react to the announcement itself, and offer our thoughts the colours, crest, stadium and membership drive.

We then move onto talking about fan arrogance, and how we (Canadian soccer supporters) need to change a bit and be a little more arrogant about our own clubs now that they are coming to be a reality. We explain why it is important and how it can help drive support across the league.

And finally, we briefly ask the question if there is an issue with stadiums across the CPL. No conclusion is determined, but we figured it's worth getting the conversation started as we've seen some success stories as well as nightmares from watching the stadium issues plague the NASL.

May 9, 2018

This weeks episode is a jam packed on where we return to the classic format again with just Nathan and Adam. We offer (or Nathan at least does) reaction to both legs of the Al Classico, and how it lays the ground for the greatest CPL rivalry.

We also talk about the CPL owners meeting in Edmonton ahead of the CSA meetings where new groups were awarded memberships to operate as pro clubs in Canada. From the meeting, Commissioner David Clanachan spoke of his preference for calling Remax Field as home for the Eddies. We weighed in on the pros and cons of a move to Remax and how Clarke Stadium should still be the main focus.

We also offered some quick reaction to Calgary's home stadium for next year, why is it called Port City and more!

Apr 25, 2018

For this episode, we focus on the future of pro soccer in Alberta with the Young Gaffers podcast. The central theme is the upcoming "Al Classico" as well as focusing a where Edmonton and Calgary are in terms of CPL hype and what a professional club will mean to each city. We also jointly examined the rumoured club names that have surfaced in the Canadian trademark office. And of course, a couple barbs are thrown in trying to determine who will win these upcoming matches.

Apr 12, 2018

This weeks podcast is a very special one as we are joined by former FC Edmonton defender Paul Hamilton. Long time fans will remember Paul as being an original fan favourite and was named to the NASL Best XI in 2012. Being that Paul is a former professional player, we got the unique opportunity to hear what happens as players transition to a more conventional lifestyle and how much different it is playing as an amateur with Scottish United.

Mar 20, 2018

This episode is a special one we've been wanting to do for some time now, and that's one focused on Free Footie. Tim and Leah from Free Footie sit down with us to talk about the program, which gives kids an opportunity to play organized soccer when it would otherwise be inaccessible to them. We talk about the beginnings of Free Footie, it's rapid growth, success stories and much more!

Mar 7, 2018

After a great run of guests, we return to our more "classic" setup of just Nathan and Adam talking about soccer. On this episode, we do an in depth look at what is effectively the death of the NASL and where it went wrong. Then we move on to feature the CanPL with news and rumours we haven't really talked at length about in the last few months. We finish the podcast by talking about the YEG4CPL movement and our #March2CPL with events happening every Friday evening in March!

Feb 27, 2018

Sean Fleming joins us on this episode. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Sean was a long time coach with the CSA, including leading u17 men to two World Cup appearances. Sean is now the u16 coach with the FCE academy. He shares a lot of stories from his experience as a coach, including coaching notable national team players at the youth levels and much more.

Feb 7, 2018

This episode features Ricardo Casanova who started up the YEG Soccer Project. He joins us to talk about soccer in Edmonton, going from the youth levels to he's coached, to the status of infrastructure in the city and accessibility of the facilities we do have. He's hosting an event on February 23rd to celebrate soccer in this city, and details can be found here.

You can find the YEG Soccer Project Facebook page here, and the Twitter account here.

Jan 26, 2018

In part two of our fan round table, we look at the future of pro soccer in Edmonton. Dallas, Dave and Tobi all return, as well as FC Edmonton general manager Jay Ball.

Jan 10, 2018

This episode is part one of a two part round table where we had a few special guests join us to talk about FC Edmonton. We were joined by FC Edmonton general manager Jay Ball, as well as prominent fans Tobi, Dallas and Dave. In this conversation, we took the opportunity to talk about why we're all FCE fans, including what brought us to the club as well as some highs and lows.

Dec 21, 2017

For our final podcast of 2017, we sit down with former FC Edmonton fullback and midfielder Allan Zebie. Allan was kind enough to reach out to us soon after he posted his comments on twitter regarding the importance of pro soccer in Edmonton and how vital the Canadian Premier League is to player development. In our conversation, we talk about his background, what brought him to soccer and Edmonton. We also talked about his time as an FC Edmonton player, the Canadian Premier League and his new endeavour, TWP (Train with Pros).

Dec 14, 2017

This weeks podcast is part two of our conversation with Jeff Paulus. On this part we focus on talking about the academy and where it sits in relationship to the first team dissolving.

Dec 7, 2017

This weeks episode is part one of a two part conversation with FC Edmonton Academy Technical Director Jeff Paulus. Jeff comes back on the show to talk about his time with the first team, as well as a closer look at 2017 and what went wrong. He also talks about the Canadian Premier League and what it would take to get a sustainable club in Edmonton as well as his dream (and realistic) club if he were to manage a CPL club.

Nov 29, 2017

This week's episode comes on the heels of FC Edmonton making a major announcement in that they are leaving the NASL and will discontinue their professional operations. Of course we offer our reactions and attempt to find some silver linings in all this.

And of course, we managed to get Tom Fath on the podcast. He talks about what lead him to make this move and what it will take to see an FC Edmonton resurgance.

Nov 22, 2017

This week is a bit of a shorter podcast, as we talk about the NASL and USSF not, uh, talking. And the follow up of that is reports of FC Edmonton not willing to be a part of the NASL picture for 2018, regardless of where  the league stands.

That transitions to FC Edmonton not renewing contracts of four key players, and how many more releases we can expect in the coming weeks.

We also take a bit of time at the end to discuss our future, more notably our plans to focus more on the academy in the coming weeks.

Nov 16, 2017

This week we talk about the Soccer Bowl and the Deltas winning. We know there's some bad in the Deltas folding, but we also try to get some good out of it.

Next we talk about the NASL and USSF reportedly working on a settlement that would see NASL continue as a division 2 league. Of course we dive into what it means for FC Edmonton.

This week may seem like a bit of a downer as we talk about the NASL v USSF case with the judge denying the league of an injunction. We break down what it means for the league and some of its teams, especially the fallout for FC Edmonton.

Next we take a look at the Championship semi final matches and how it provided some surprises. We then go on to pick who will win the (possibly last ever) Soccer Bowl. Spoiler: One of us will be right.

On our last part of the podcast, we get a little stats heavy regarding the 2017 season and determine how bad it really was compared to other seasons, notably 2012. It may get a little hard to follow, but look for a blog version in the coming days.

Nathan returns this week! He talks about his time there, more specifically his experience at the Brisbane Roar match. Adam treats him like a guest in asking how it compares to the North American game and how Canada can learn from their growth.

Next we talk about the last match of FC Edmonton's season, and our experience in hosting the viewing party at Arcadia.

And of course, we talk about NASL vs USSF and how it seems to be leaning from our perspective.

With Nathan still in Australia, Adam is joined by Tobi to talk about the final home game of the year. While a loss to Miami FC is something we've grown accustomed to, there was a weird feeling at the end of the game and we share our thoughts on it. And with this weeks match against Puerto Rico FC, we talk about the need for donations to help the devastated island try to recover from Hurricane Maria. Please feel free to donate if you haven't to the Carmelo Anthony Puerto Rico Relief Fund here. For context, Carmelo Anthony is the owner of Puerto Rico FC and has strong ties there.

Up next Greyson Knutson of Eddies TV joins Adam to talk about why he got into broadcasting, why he loves soccer, how he joined the FC Edmonton team and much more!

With Nathan away, Adam is left as the sole hose for this episode. But fear not, as there are a few guests to help fill the void. Up first, we have Tobi come on (for what seems like the 40th time) to talk about FC Edmonton's match against the Cosmos and other nutty stuff relating to soccer in North America as a whole.

Next Adam is joined by Jessica and Katie of the For Kicks Podcast. They react to the NWSL Championship and talk about the league as a whole. We also talked about the upcoming friendlies against the US. And most importantly, we make this crossover happen to talk about FC Edmonton's 'Girls in Soccer Night 2' as it is the focus for the final home game of 2017.

FC Edmonton loses (this description isn't copy-pasted, we promise) but we still find some talking points. While the result was lacklustre, we also go into some problems we are starting to have with the game day production. We also manage to find some good in all of it too, like David Doe's professional debut and the banter with Jacksonville's Zach Steinberger on the corner kicks.

Next we look at the USMNT missing the World Cup. We explore how the USSF needs to be careful and deliberate in cleaning house otherwise they risk falling into the slump Canada is still trying to work itself out of. We also look how the CSA in turn can also look at this and learn from it.

Adam & Nathan start this week by discussing the unfortunate terror attacks this weekend. We focus mainly on what happened locally in Edmonton, as well as what happened in Las Vegas on the heels of it. We think it's important to talk about events like these, and believe sports can help heal and move on from these kind of events.

We move on to talking about the loss this past weekend, again to San Francisco. The big things plaguing the team this week was the absence of Ameobi and poor defending on set plays.

In the second half of the podcast we speculate on all the options we believe are available to FC Edmonton for the 2018 season. We've dipped into it a bit before, but this time we dig deeper on the options and how likely they each may be.

On this episode, we dive deep into FC Edmonton's loss to San Francisco. The starting lineup looked...interesting but ultimately was not as good as the previous week in Indy. Why the changes? We attempt to examine why but only get even more confused (which doesn't seem to take much).

Next, we talk about a recent blog Nathan posted, "Are Supporter Groups Killing Supporter Culture in Edmonton?" We both chime in on what we thing is hurting the growth, and examine a very well done blog in response written by a newer FC Edmonton fan.

And finally, we tease LCRV merch. Would you be into that? Any ideas for designs? Please feel free to let us know what you think!

The Edmonton Community Foundation works as a bridge between donors and charities to help create a contribute to the strong vibrant community here in Edmonton. We both found the podcast very interesting, and you can listen for yourself here

There's a lot to cover this week! We start by talking about FCE's big win against Indy this past weekend. There was a few lineup changes that we discuss that helped contribute to the result.

Next we move on to discuss Tom Fath admitting to sitting in on Canadian Premier League meetings. We speculate if this means the NASL meetings last week didn't go well. And following that news, we learn that the NASL plans to sue the USSF in a Hail Mary move to save the league. There's also a few interesting notes that happen to get leaked as well.
